Small Isles Bay, Isle of Jura

Jura Half Marathon and 10K

Islay JogScotland are happy to support these events, which are run by the Jura Hall Committee.

Jura Half Marathon and 10K - 19th July 2014

Despite the forecast, the weather stayed dry for us.  There was a record turnout for the Half Marathon, run over a different route to previous years.  Runners enjoyed themselves in both events, and we have the photos to prove it!   Please select a small image to see the full gallery.

Thanks to William Corson for the mid-route photographs.

Getting to Jura

There is a summer-only passenger ferry from Tayvallich in Knapdale to Jura.  The ferry can also accommodate bicycles, by prior arrangement.  Alternatively, there is a car ferry from Port Askaig on the Isle of Islay.

Islay can be reached by ferry from Kennacraig, or by air from Glasgow daily, or from Oban twice weekly.

Accommodation is available on Jura at the Jura Hotel and several B&Bs. Camping is permitted in the hotel grounds.  For more information on accommodation, visit the JuraInfo accommodation guide.

There is also a range of accommodation available on Islay, just a ten-minute ferry crossing away.
